Monon Construction Update - June 27, 2022

June 29th:

See next newer post...

Updated: 27 June 2022:

Still no activity other than tree trimming between 49th and Fall Creek Greenway. Barrier to southbound traffic removed at Fall Creek bridge, so (logically speaking) the section north of Sutherland is now open. Detour signs still litter the area, however.

Updated: 23 June 2022

Signs are posted at 56th, 52nd, and 49th Streets advising that the trail will be closed "On or after June 20, 2022." Trail is open as of this date. Survey markings, flags, and stakes are abundant plus there is heavy tree and brush trimming on the east side of the trail between 46th and 42nd. No other changes in status.

This is the current state of Monon Rail Trail construction in Marion County as of 21 June, 2022.

10th St to 14th St: Paved detour around north split construction including section, protected by Jersey barriers, on northbound lanes of College avenue. Reconnects with Monon on north side of highway.

14th St to 16th St: Original pavement

16th St to 22nd St: Detour west to Cornell and/or Bellfontaine (marked, sort of). Warning: Heavy traffic on 16th for one block.

22nd St to 25th St: Pavement complete but street crossings under construction.

25th St to 28th St: Pavement complete without center stripe or infrastructure. 25th St street crossing under construction.

28th St to Sutherland: Original pavement. Note heavy truck traffic across the trail just south of Sutherland, and a new business (Beer Garden?) opening at the site of the former hardwood supply company at 30th Street.

Sutherland to Fall Creek Greenway: pavement complete without center line or infrastructure. Barriers in place but passable.

Fall Creek Greenway to 96th St: Original pavement. Confusing signs southbound at 38th Street can be ignored.
